Betelgeuse Betelgeuse is a neighborhood cocktail bar and pizza place with two Houston locations:

4500 Montrose Blvd in the heart of Montrose
We make handmade cocktails, ironclad-style pizza, and we don't think there are enough weird places in Houston.
What’s the deal with the name?
Betelgeuse is a supergiant star in the Orion constellation. If you’re in Houston, it’s not a big leap from space → NASA → Space City → us. We liked the idea of a bar name rooted in astronomy, space culture, and a little mystery. The rest followed naturally.
So… what kind of place is this?
A neighborhood bar first, with great pizza and snacks. We’re good for: first dates (and last dates), solo drinks with a book, weird art and sci-fi bathroom hallways, karaoke, DJs, and late nights, big groups and quiet corners, and friendly bartenders who actually like being here.
Is this a Beetlejuice-themed bar?
No. That said, the star Betelgeuse has a long history tied to mythology, death, and the afterlife—some of which influenced the movie. There’s overlap, we like the film, and we’re not mad about the confusion. But this is not a themed bar. (Please don’t sue us, Tim Burton.)
Are you dog-friendly?
Yes--at Washington. Bring your dog. We will probably like your dog.
Are you kid-friendly?
Absolutely—until 9pm.
I forgot my ID. Can I show you a picture of it?
We take TABC law seriously, and as such you must have your actual, valid ID with you to purchase alcohol.
Can I host an event here?
Absolutely. Private parties, buyouts, weird ideas—we’re open to it.

Do you have gluten-free or vegetarian options?
We do offer a gluten-free crust for our 14" pizzas, our wings are gluten free, our salads can be made gluten free (ask for no croutons), and we have many vegetarian options!
Do both locations have the same menu?
Food, yes. Cocktails, mostly but no guarantees.
Do you have happy hour / weekly specials?
Happy hour every day from 4-6! $7 wines by the glass, $8 draft jugs, and $9 select cocktails!
Is there parking?
Washington has three lots: the spaces surrounding our building, the lot directly on our west side (farther from downtown), and another lot with a big giant Betelgeuse Parking sign on it on the other side of the furniture shop.
Montrose has a dedicated parking lot behind the building and street parking (where signs indicate) in the neighborhood.
Do you do karaoke / DJs / events regularly?
Karaoke every Fri-Sat at Washington, every Sat at Montrose!
